This is an incredibly atmospheric, magical, captivating story that I struggled to put down once I’d started. I loved the switching viewpoints and the way the experiences of the individual characters wove together. Every emotion was illustrated so accurately and wrenched parts of my heart I didn’t even know I had. By the end of the book, I felt like I knew Agnes so well yet it also gave me a curiosity for more. It was an ambitious concept, expertly undertaken. Just beautiful.

I’m a little irritated at the connection to Shakespeare for some reason I haven’t worked out yet. BUT the author’s words on womanhood, motherhood, relationships, and holy moly ohmysweetbbyjesus grief just absorbed into my guts. It’s good stuff. Good enough to make me want to seek out her other writing. So you should probably read it.
