gosh i dont even know what to say... Agnes is truly one of the best, well written characters ive read this story was so beautiful and i truly struggled to get past the beginning but im so glad i did. i fell in love with william which is a true shocker but i felt so bad for him and he was so charming and he was so in love with agnes and i know
he cheated on her
but he was sad :(( but agnes is such a fighter and i wish she wasnt becuase she went through so much but she is so important oh i love her and the writing was beautiful

Incredible. The writing positively shimmers. The emotional journeys are raw and real. A slight element of supernatural forces kept me guessing. I will be thinking about this book for a long time.

Agnes' fierce love for her children and the portrayal of her grief were the absolute highlights of this novel. I loved how painful it was to read all those passages.

I also loved the moment in which she attends the representation of Hamlet and understands what her husband intended to do. It was a good callback to her words a hundred pages before, and what any parent would want to do for their child.

Very slowly paced. Gives a great depiction of what life during the Elizabethan Age could have possibly been like.

I cried, it was beautiful. Will definitely read more from Maggie O'Farrell.
