As someone who adores flowery, overblown, language I loved this book. A brilliant little collection of short stories, mainly feminist twists on classic fairytales, with deep gothic sexual themes. I can understand why people might not like this book, as the language Carter uses can sometimes be difficult to process and there are none or two moments which take you out of the book entirely. Besides that, one of the best written pieces of literature I've read in a while.

Tales replete with gore,
Erotic prose lights the dark,
The wolf is tender.

some of them seem to be mainly based on shock value without deeper exploration into wjat they are dealing with while a couple of them are really compelling and intresting (the erl-king)
