Another book on CD for my drive to work... HILARIOUS.. great narrator! The ending was somewhat disappointing - ended rather abruptly, and without the flare that I expected. But I LOVED the antics in this book! The accents and intonations were great..
I enjoy this author's writing because I never know what I'm going to get....this falls into the category of realistic fiction and although the plot was fairly predictable, I loved the characters and was interested to now how thing would finally work out for the two of them. I listened to this and loved the production....just overall a nice easy and fun read.
I have mixed feelings about this book. I love the story, but at times I was just mad at why it was dragging. It is a wonderful love story, but I felt that towards the end it was just taking way to long. It could be me though. I plan on reading this book again later. Sometimes a second or third read can change a mind about a book.
Grade: B
This book was so.....so.......LONG. IT WAS SO LONG. It honestly could've been squished from its 570 pages to about 300. I did really love the story though, and I found the letter/email/text/etc. medium really interesting and fun.
(Much preferred the film, though.)

The writing style – E-Mails, notes IMs and letters back and forth – took a little getting used to, and as soon as you've settled into that particular style of storytelling, that last chapter really jolted the reader back into reality. One thing I like about Ahern is her ability to create believable characters: People with flaws and normal habits that the average girl/woman can relate to. It's my second time reading this book and this time I noticed a few drags here and there, bogging the narrative down ... or maybe I've just gotten older. It's still a light-hearted and, in parts, even hilarious summer read – and by far one of the most frustrating will-they-or-won't-they love stories I've ever come across.
This was a DNF for me and it turned out this was the second time I tried reading it and realized about 10 pages in. I got about 35% through and I just didn’t care enough about any of the characters or plot. I don’t like the style of it either - being written through email/text correspondence only.
I started off really enjoying this book, the way it was written was so unique.
But then came the: I love him, or wait now I don't, oh I love him again, now I don't.
Both the two main characters marrying about 3 people each having babies with other people, falling in and out of love with each other, only to unite when they're 50. If they would've gotten their act together, and told each other how they felt in the beginning, then they wouldn't have spent 30 years of their lives miserable.
