[Audiobook] This book has a lot of information about how some Americans vote against their self-interest in a misguided attempt to maintain their privileges. I suspect the book may be better as a traditional, rather than audio, book as each section ended with a discussion of the statistics underlying the analysis and I found that less engaging in an audio format.

I had been looking forward to this book to provide some insight into the current divergent opinions in the US between democratic and republican states- but instead it felt disjointed and based on very little information. Furthermore- when talking to interview subjects- the author tended to draw the opposite conclusion of the interviewee- which made you wonder what the benefit of including the conversation was if the conclusion was not impacted or strengthened by the material. Would not recommend.

This was a hard read. The interviews were hard to read. The animosity toward others was hard to read. Great book, just hard to be confronted with it.

I found this book to be a worthwhile read, but not the most accessible one. Although Metzl is definitely a progressive and this is definitely not an objective book, he does a good job at trying to be fair.
