At once anecdotal memoir and historical archive, Atherton Lin’s anthropology of “cruising” is a mastery.

great pride month read.  i couldn’t stop thinking about my houston gay bars i love so much

Everybody should read this book, part anthology and part memoir. The blending of tones is such a joy to read. I want to visit every place that he mentioned, and I could vividly feel how he felt thanks to his descriptive writing. Save Gay Bars forever

Loved this read. A great unofficial history of gay bars in the UK and LA told through some personal narrative and lots of research. Extremely lucky to have known of, and visited, some of the sites talked about. Knowing why we go out and how our spaces came to be is so important to me.

tragic to start a book you've wanted to read forever and very quickly realize it isnt for you (at least at the current moment)
