Interesting ideas and dialogue but way too slow, too many confusing family interconnections. Ultimately I just didn’t care what happened next and found myself not wanting to pick it up.

Lost interest in the plot.

The Pretender is not a book for everyone. Unfortunately as much as I enjoy the Tudor era, I just couldn’t get into this book. Set in the 1400’s in England following the life of Lambert Simnel, a pretender to the throne and a threat to King Henry VII. There was some highly engaging moments, but overall this was too slow paced for me.

Thank you to aaknopf for this gifted copy of The Pretender
