Wow. Every page left me shocked, I kept thinking "this can't get any worse" and it did.

These film studios and agencies are so predatory, and they really need to put a lot more effort into protecting children. Unfortunately I don't think Jennette's story is the only one, but I'm glad she was able to tell her story. They need to start institutionalizing some of these parents and giving them psych evals before they let them send their poor kids off to act.

It was also so sad to hear about how miserable and unwell she was while filming iCarly and Sam and Cat. She was my favourite actress and character during my formative years and she brought me so much joy, I wish that she could've had that too from her role. Crazy that I was living through this and had no idea that she was dealing with an abusive mother, an eating disorder, and sexual abuse. I hope she's able to heal.

Fascinating book and she told it beautifully. It is extremely dark and heavy but it doesn’t change how beautiful her story ends up being.

This memoir was so powerful and thought-provoking. Jennette McCurdy captures her younger voice so well, communicating the child star’s perspective with humor and poignancy. Highly recommend, if only to think more about the media you consume and what may be going on behind the scenes.
