Ahhh, I love when the second in a series doesn’t disappoint!

Really enjoyed this one - thought the plot was really good, didn’t want to put it down (another that I read in a day!), and thought the romance made sense.

My favorite thing in romance is dual POV and Laura Griffin does not disappoint - I loved hearing both Joel & Miranda’s POVs, and thought her being temporarily moved onto the police force made a lot of sense for the plot and added a lot to the believability of the story.

Overall a good second in the series and definitely made me want to keep going!

Romantic suspense and small town are the recipe for a great book, at least for me, and this one is no exception. Miranda and Joel were intriguing characters investigating a case that had me guessing till the big reveal on who the culprit was. Laura Griffin has a great writing style that makes is very easy to become invested in the story and the characters she writes are a great example of that.

Miranda Rhoads, a former forensic photographer turner nature photographer is out working early one morning when she comes across what appear to be a sleeping couple in a canoe. However, the closer she gets she realizes they aren't sleeping. Lead detective on the case, Joel Breda, is immediately intrigued by Miranda, an eyewitness who appears to be completely collected after finding a dead couple. Of course, upon closer examination, she might not be as unaffected by what's she's seen as he thought. And when the department is in desperate need of forensic help and the bodies keep piling up, Joel and Miranda will need to work together to solve the case.

I really enjoyed how the relationship between Miranda and Joel developed and the way they worked together throughout the case. I love that Joel was completely open to Miranda's thoughts and opinions and I love the way he wanted to protect her throughout. The pacing of the entire book worked really well for me and the way Miranda's backstory was revealed was done really well. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of this series and more from this author.

This is one I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the following.

✔️ Workplace Romance
✔️ Small Town
✔️ Mystery/Suspense
✔️ Law Enforcement Hero
✔️ Protective Hero
✔️ Third Person POV

NICE. Very nice. Exciting, and a real treat to see a chill ml. Basically letting her take every first step, sensing every boundary. Love to see that. This is a book that I'll most probably reread!

Laura Griffin did a fantastic job with the plot. The murder mystery aspect was great and it didn’t overshadow Miranda’s struggles or vice versa. They both were important storylines that melded together so gracefully. I had no idea who the killer was let alone there may have been more than one. It seemed to be a connection to what Miranda was running from but it wasn’t. I was slightly disappointed because that would’ve been the icing on top but it didn’t take away from how the story played out. The chemistry between Miranda and Joel felt very natural and I like how they didn’t play games with each other. Miranda had some things to overcome and some decisions to make and I’m really glad she didn’t run away from them as that would’ve been an unnecessary complication in the story. Overall, great book! I’ll definitely be reading more from the author.

I really enjoyed HIdden, the first book in the series. This is similar in that it is a mystery and a romance. When Miranda, a photographer discovers a murdered couple in a boat, she gets involved with the local police and detective Joel and they investigate the crime. I was about a third through the book when I realized Miranda 's sister was the main character in Hidden. I wish I knew this earlier and would have understood how this was related to the first book. I enjoyed the mystery but felt the ending was rushed and some murders were left unsolved. Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

My new favorite Laura Griffin! This book had me hooked, since the start! You learned more and more about the case at a perfect pace. “Flight” was more spicy than Griffin’s “Hidden”, I give it 4 of. 5 chili peppers

Miranda is on hiatus from her job as a forensic photographer and is renting a beach house for however long it takes to get over a case she worked. Decompressing, she's taken a photography job to take pictures of specific birds for a calendar (she's a bird nerd anyway). Prowling around in early morning looking for the perfect light she stumbles across two dead bodies. She takes pictures and submits them to the police where she comes under the attention of Detective Joel Breda. Joel & the department are short on staff and he offers Miranda a job as the CSI photographer. It's a double sided coin because he's attracted to Miranda and she's also excellent at her job. She's also attracted to him and isn't looking for a relationship. Another murder draws them closer together while fighting their attraction and trying to find a murderer. Seemingly unrelated murders occurring years apart start connecting to a group on the terrorism watch list and Joel & Miranda must catch the killer before they to become victims.
