One of my all-time-favourites. Fat Charlie is a likable, extraordinary while being delightfully ordinary and a good protagonist. The other characters are interesting as well. Gaiman's language never fails to (or very rarely) entertain and inspire me. Definitely prefer this over American Gods (which I never could finish).
Also I gotta say I never realized most/some characters were supposed to be black until wayyyy later (and even then it took another review). I had never heard of Anansi before this (don't mind me, I'm Finnish and we grow up with different stories) so he was completely new to me, Spider was always kinda Mediterranean in my head and Daisy Asian but other than that, I didn't get it from the apparently very vague hints Gaiman gave.

The second hand embarrassment I experienced especially in the first half made me want to skip ahead. But I definitely recommend the book, I thought it had cool characters, beautiful writing and descriptions, and an incredible plot. Favorite character was obviously Daisy, thought that Rosie was a bit overrated (until the end) and enjoyed all of the old ladies. I liked both Fat Charlie and Spider and how they complimented each other.
