it’s such a waste to have a florist as heroine and not use of the language of flowers.

This book was definitely cheesier than the last (though that is always a risk with the territory). I listened to the audiobook and found it quite distracting that every time a new character spoke the reader put on a different accent. The accents weren't even bad - they were just very thick and verging on caricatures. It almost became a running joke, every time a new character was introduced I was thinking "Where tf are they going to be from?"

I didn't like the main character as much as Jess from the last book. There was a weird chapter where we learned about Kate's finances. This woman is in her early thirties and owns a two bed flat in Old Street. She admits that sometimes she pretends that she's renting instead because it "puts her on par with the other 30-somethings in London" and she doesn't want to be seen as a "spoilt rich kid". She got inheritance when her dad died but also she "works really hard" and is "a good saver". It's probably worth noting as well that she works in magazine publishing. (This flat is at least £900,000 and could be as much as £2mil). Anyway. This was a bugbear for me and put me off the character.

In the last book, I thought the love interest put up with a lot of shit and was surprisingly understanding. In this book, the main character completely overreacted to a moment of conflict. And then these women don't talk to each other for over 5 days!! When they have a disagreement!! Just completely ghost one another!! And this happens more than once! V secondary school behaviour tbh.

But -- I did really like the ~twist~ and I didn't see it coming. I also enjoyed the ending... It managed to redeem itself as they both put on their big girl pants and grew up a bit. Will I pick up the next? Probably eventually - I just love the way the author writes dialogue, it is so genuine but also funny and smart and charming.
