This is a perfect summer read because it takes place on this beautiful (existing!) island (I need to go there!) and it’s just a magical feeling reading about it. It’s amazing how Jennifer described the scenery, it really felt like I was there with Claude.
This story is really personal for Jennifer Niven, because it’s based on her own experience when her parents got divorced and she took off with her mother to the mountains. Last Tuesday I had an online meeting with Jennifer Niven hosted by Moon publishers and it was the best thing ever! I got to ask some questions about this book, for example why she chose to write about an island when she went to the mountains herself. She said she wanted to let Claude have her own story that was a little different from hers, so she chose the opposite of mountains: an island. If you want to know the answers to all my questions for Jennifer Niven, feel free to dm me!
Back to the book. Every time I wasn’t reading, I was dreaming of returning to the island because it was just an amazing feeling to read about it! You’d think an island like that doesn’t exist, but it does (Cumberland Island)! The author has been there.
The ending was so sad, but also realistic. The hurt and the wanting in the end. I could feel it through the pages
And never before made the acknowledgments me cry…

really loved the summer vibes of this one and found all the adventures so cute, but just found the whole family history aspect of it a bit boring and really hated the fact thatclaude kissed someone else?!
the romance was very sweet, but i did feel a bit let down by the ending
