rereading bc i found the gorgeous chiltern edition and ughhhh i love anne so much. probably going to reread anne of avonlea and anne of the island before the yr ends.
anne of green gables was a staple of my childhood growing up and there’s smth about marilla that reminds me of late grandma on my mom’s side who i was really close to. the only reason this gets a four is bc books 2 and 3 have my whole entire heart and have had it since first reading them in like 7/8th grade

I can’t quite believe that it has taken until now to read this book, and much like the majority of people, I absolutely loved it! Dear Lord that girl can talk - very much like Matthew at their first meeting you watch stupefied as she just goes on and on and on, but she was completely and utterly charming. But some of her mistakes just had me laughing out loud they were so funny! And I adored her constant battles with Gilbert which were so obviously only going to end one way.
I did manage not to cry at the end (was a bit of a struggle) although I did have the sense that something was going to happen. I didn’t really have much intention in reading the rest of the series but I am now feeling the need to do so as I would like to see her as an adult, and whether she retains her youthful imagination.

Graphic: Death of parent
This was one of the most wholesome books I’ve ever read, and young Anne has to be the funniest book character ever. I went into reading it thinking this was gonna be lighthearted, but the last few chapters made me choke up.
