Promising premise, poorly executed. The book is peppered with ridiculously simplistic errors which really detracted from the story. I also felt that Raymond teased with the promise of the Spanish Civil War and the intriguing figure of the poet Ki Monroe and then forced the reader to wade through excessive detail of the early life of recently deceased millionaire Hal Buren. Whilst the clouded morals of Buren's actions were not uninteresting, it was bogged down with large over-done domestic segments and the pacing was off, racing through some time periods as if they were an after-thought.
