Wow. I really enjoyed this book.
The pacing was great and easy to follow along, the bit of mystery we get really kept me involved.
Blazewrath games really delves deep into corruption, what people in power are willing to do, and who they crush along the way.
I absolutely loved the Puerto Rican representation and the way culture, not just from PR, but other countries and nations as well, was displayed in the story through both the use of characters and dragons.
And the dragons! Each nation participating in the games had their own unique types of dragons based on location, weather good in speed, stealth, power and more. The descriptions were fantastical and really brought my imagination to life as I was reading.
Along with the dragon we also have class of magic and this system fell a little short for me as this aspect didn't really shine until later in the story. I would have liked it to be a little more involved but I think for how it wove Into the story it worked well.
Overall a very exciting adventure full of self discovery, bravery, culture, found family and kick ass dragon riders.

Really thought i would enjoy the read, as it had dragons and a tournament plot.
The book had a good start, but the world building didn't click for me. It was like having a house with a few walls missing.
The characters were all over the place. None of them made an impact, not even MC.
The fight with the antagonist was one of the most dull and boring fight I had ever read.
Had to force myself to finish the book.

I had a lot of fun reading this book. DRAGONS are a good enough reason to love any story, but it was about far more than that, and the action was grandiose. I hate sports, yet I tend to jump on every story following a sports team. And what better sports than a magical dragon-centered competition could there be ?
It’s pretty clear the author was partly inspired by Quidditch when she imagined the Blazewrath Games. The themes were very different from Harry Potter, though, even if some elements were reminiscent of its magic system. The blend between fantasy and reality was surprisingly smooth.
Parts of the plot didn’t make a lot of sense. Like, in what world could you protest against a competition you’re playing in without being kicked out of the team ? And how could you hope to compete with professional athletes with only a few days of training ? I’m pretty sure that’s not how it works.
I was surprised by the way it ended. I didn’t like it at first, but now that I can see it under a new light, I feel like it makes perfect sense. I think it's a lesson that can be transcribed to a lot of situations.

The premise was good. The writing was bad. The continuity was bad. The characters were bad (unrealistic/ felt shallow and not fully fleshed out.) The dialogue was corny. The villain was like a caricature of a noir style bad guy. There were some shitty remarks made by the main character about a character who survived child abuse and it was annoying and served no purpose to the story sooooo that really sealed the nail on the coffin, among all the other things wrong with this book.
However, I think the author has potential. I don’t think her writing style suits first person POV (which this was) and if she wrote from a third person narrator I think this would have been so much better tbh. Also I think she’s writing some chapters like middle grade some like YA and some like New Adult I think she needs to fine tune her voice as an author. There were tiny moments here and there where I was like “ok that’s good!” But it was drowned out and overrun by all the bad stuff.
Honestly I think the book needed a few more rounds of editing and revising.
Oh and there were 2 specific scenes that felt like knock offs of HP scenes/ HP magic mechanics and it just felt lazy.

I always panic when I hit a reading slump and the joy that I had when I started reading this book was incredible. It's not the best book in the world and I think is definitely aimed at young adults, all the same, I managed to read it in one evening and I just love the idea of dragons being apart of our past. I would definitely read this again and is something that I would buy for a younger reader.
