2nd book in my mother/daughter book club and both my daughter and I really liked this book. It was super interesting to learn more about quantum blood with Native people and it was interesting to have that discussion with my kiddo.
Meeting Wesley and learning about her family and her school and her crush gave both my kiddo and I lots to talk about....excited to meet with the book club so we can all discuss it together.

This own voices book does a great job introducing or deepening understanding of Native perspectives. It also touches on emotional labor, abusive relationships, the validity of jobs that didn't exist in the past, and friendship. This book includes a large focus on a middle school romance, so will play better to a middle school audience than a younger one.

A story about identity, about finding your place in the world, but more importantly within yourself. A quick, easy read. An important one about finding one’s connections in life.

My 11 year old son and I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook. We learned a lot about tribal identity and self-determination. So much of the narrative was relatable to my son even though he is not Native, especially the challenge to find your voice.

An excellent selection for Native American Heritage Month echoing the "We are still here" message, helping elementary and middle school readers develop a greater understanding of the lives of contemporary American Indian/Native children.

Audiobook narration was excellent.

Recommended for elementary library collections.

Excellent middle grade book! Loved that it took place just across one day.
