Read this book for my school’s upcoming Battle of the Books.

This is a really sweet middle grades novel with important representation and diversity. The story follows a 12 year-old girl’s experiences on Indigenous Peoples’ Day. There is a lot in here that middle schoolers can relate to (having a crush on a classmate, living in a multi-generational household, having an absent parent, etc.). The characters are all lovable and there’s a lot to learn from in the story.
