Despite the lack of steam, I adored Eddy and Rhine's story. Like the previous Beverly Jenkins I read, this story is rooted in history, and she does such a good job of immersing you in it, while also showing both the good and the bad of post-Construction Western America. The community is really the heart of this story, how people come together to be good in all sorts of ways. I only wanted more!!

Loved the setting and the amount of historical context given, but it felt slow at times in the beginning and middle, and then extremely rushed at the end.
