All the characters are so real as people. Their mistakes and flaws all make sense based on their lives and who they are as people. This can make it a grim slog at times because you can understand why everything keeps going wrong, no one could do any better with the circumstances they are in. Absolutely worth the read.

This book was a struggle to get through! The plot involved a lot of travelling, which I found boring, and many of the characters that I liked in the previous books barely made an appearance. Fitz made so many stupid decisions, but I'm willing to forgive him since he was going through a lot. At least the character development was good, and I loved the relationships between Nighteyes, Fitz, and the Fool! Despite my mixed feelings for this book, I still really enjoyed the series!

"Oh, that's so sad:.(" I say a dolphin flies  past me as I'm walking on the yellow brick rode to candy mountain, so I can meet the magic leoploridons.

I can not express how much these characters have stolen my heart. This is for sure a new favorite series for me, and I'm sure my love will only grow as I move forward with the rest of the Realm of the Elderlings. That said, I am giving this one a 4 instead of a 5 because it really is absurdly long, and all though, by the end I had forgiven it all its sins, I can't pretend that there wasn't about 300 pages in the middle of it that dragged on.
