I love the slow burn of this book. It was a quick and easy read which was extremely entertaining. I don’t know if I’m just overly emotional right now but one part of the book literally had me tearing up.

This one was... a little more underwhelming than I expected? Perhaps part of that was bc I didn't really love the guy narrator. I can't believe I'm saying this, but his voice was... too deep? IDK, for me it came off sounding less grumpy alpha male and more... violent asshole? I did enjoy the whole essentially Disneyland setting, premise and the grumpy x sunshine trope, but I just felt quite meh at the end. Nothing much that I disliked about the story but also not many standout things to make me really love it either. I just don't have much to say about this one.

this was one of those romance books where it’s definitely bad, but so ridiculous that it’s funny. the amount of times i had to set the book down and laugh at some of the dialogue was insane. for example:

“She feels perfect in my arms, and I’m tempted to keep her tucked beside me where I can protect her from all the darkness in the world, including myself.”

i was PISSING at this. sir, you are a 30-year old human man. why are you talking like you’re a 500-year old fae warrior? it’s so funny when contemporary romance authors put lines like this in their books when it’s so fantasy romance coded—and it just doesn’t belong in romance books.

the next one had me laughing out loud:

“Seriously, what kind of idiot complains about a woman having curves? Off the record, your body is hot as fuck.”

thank you rowan for that absurd fucking line. i mean the first part is great, but the second???? so insanely ridiculous to put in a book that i had to laugh. it was just thrown in out of no where like sir you’re her boss. i can’t, it’s too good.

anyways… this book felt like a fever dream to me. it was so weird and dumb, and rowan & zahra just didn’t make sense to me. i almost stopped reading after zahra walked into a WORK MEETING carrying her hot pink skateboard, but i stuck to it. the rest of the series is so much better than this MESS, so overall it’s worth it—at least you’ll get a laugh.

I literally cried late through the whole ending because I was not ready to say goodbye and I'm still not I need another book about them. Just zarah and Rowan are my life I love them.the epiloge why did it end like that i need more of them.

I wish I could give half stars because this is a smooth 3 1/2. The story was very cute. The writing was slight repetitive, I found myself skipping some of the internal monologue just to read the conversations and the main parts of the story. Overall I liked. Somewhat can see the hype around this.

Rowan ans Zahra

the tension omg
