I had a lot of fun with this one as the adventures continue for Liam and his friends. This time his former bully turned best friend Harry joins him on his quest in Arestana. I love how everything is topsy turvy in Arestana and Harry is treated as a wise and helpful person. You get to see a new side of his personality come out as they work to defend the castle against the mudmen. What I enjoy about these books is that as much as Liam gets frustrated with the way things work, he generally shakes it off and goes with the flow (partly because he knows it won't do any good to protest). This time the quest flows into their own world and many of his townspeople end up getting involved including his parents, Harry's parents, and his "nemesis" teacher. I loved it! The Arestana squirrels make an appearance too (for a perfectly ridiculous reason of course) and it makes me want to read the companion book (which has not yet been released) for the squirrels' point of view during this whole crazy adventure. I'm so glad I discovered this author through Book Sirens, although this was not an ARC. If you need to take a break from the world or from more serious reads, these are fun, "don't take yourself seriously" type of books full of silly fun.
