Out of Control opens with Liva (Olivia) in a police station being questioned about an incident that she may have witnessed, while waiting at the station she meets Jay (Jaime) who's been brought in wearing handcuffs. And that's the "relaxing" part over with! Events at the police station lead to Liva and Jay going on the run, trying to keep one step ahead of people who seem to want to take Liva.

This book is full of action, it seemed like I read most of it in a run-on sentence as I couldn't slow my reading down enough to bother with punctuation! Reading the book truly does feel like being on an out of control journey. Liva is a brilliant, self sufficient girl who realises over the timeline of the book that though she is capable of surviving on her own, relying on other people won't make her weak.

The theme of human trafficking is something I've never read about in books before, fiction or non-fiction (though I have seen stories in the newspapers). I think that Sarah Alderson deals with the trafficking in the book very well, and while facts are presented and we get to know how Liva feels about it, the reader isn't presented with accounts of trafficking themselves, this is something that you can take away from the book and learn more about for yourself through the charities that are mentioned at the end of the book.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading books with action and hot guys (that's a lot of people!) So pick up a copy and be prepared to not put it down until you've reached the end!

Also mir hat's gefallen xD

This book was an awesome thrill ride and I loved every second of it! The pace was frantic and around every corner (or new chapter break) was yet another surprise. It was mostly a thriller with some mystery to it, and I didn't figure out any of the mystery aspects until the characters did - I was slapped in the face right along with Liva and Jaime. Live was an amazing character, so strong, someone who'd experienced so much in her almost-18 years, but they're way different experiences than you typically find in YA books. And Jaime, well.....there were times I was just about drooling over him. He was such a rock and also a strong character, and he went on this crazy ride with Live without looking back once. I loved them together!!

The underlying subject of the novel (which I will let you discover by reading the book, no spoiler) is a very serious one, and although it's truly just underlying the story here and not really in your face, I appreciated that the author gave a reading list and links with ways to help at the end. I highly recommended that anyone who doesn't know much about the issue read up on it and figure out your own way to help make it stop.

I'm interested to read other reviews as people read the book and see what others think about Liva's actions with respect to her father. On the one hand at times I thought she sure seemed cold about it, but on the other hand I tried to put myself in her position and imagine what I would do if I found out that about my dad.... and I just don't know. I think the author gave us one view of how someone would handle it, and I do think it is ultimately the right way, but I have no doubt there are others who would take (probably, who have taken) a different approach.

I absolutely loved this book and I raced through it in about 8 hours or so. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in a frantic thrill ride with some strong, smart as hell teens!!

It certainly wasn't high literature, but it actually pleasantly surprised me with it's characters and treatment of damsel in distress gender tropes.

LOVED IT. So much fun and so great to read. Review to come!
