A lovely end to a wonderful series.

Yeah, a fitting if slightly subdued end to 'The Sandman' series. I kind of expected this to be more like an epilogue and thus nowhere near as dramatic as the last novel and it basically lived up to that. Now that I have finished the entire collection, in retrospect I think I will look back on it as a widely imaginative and well plotted series but I cannot see me reading the entire thing again as it has been very up & down tbh. Ah well, it was a nice escape these past few months and I'm eager to check out the Netflix series to see how good it is.

Another mixed bag. I dont think this book "had to be." The story could have ended with 9. This is clearly a labor of love for Gaiman. That said, once again, bringing back characters and having them interact with each other, connecting disparate story lines, was a lot of fun. This book was more fun/enjoyable than "deep." If you're gonna read 1-9, you can stop there. But if you just want more, go ahead and pick up 10.

A tragic, yet beautiful and complete conclusion to the Sandman series. The most perfect conclusion I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

The fallout from the previous volume all comes to a head here. The artwork was particularly impressive. I'm not sure where the book can go from here, it all felt very final, but I note there are two more volumes listed on the back cover.

Whether this was the final volume or not, it's been a really wild ride, and I suspect I'll enjoy the series even more upon re-reading it.

A splendid epilogue

A rather fitting end. Not as chock full of stories as the others, and the story with the Chinese advisor was a bit out of left field, but a great way to end things for the Sandman character. Now just to finish Endless Nights and The Dream Hunters.

A fitting end to a collection of wonderful stories. It's a quiet chat by the glowing coals left in the wake of The Kindly Ones, one that ties the loose ends that matter most and leaves us saddened that the journey is over, but satisfied that it was one worth taking.

GREAT SANDMAN REREAD 2015
Some of my favorite art of the series in this epilogue. It was great to see so many characters from the series dreamed into the wake, and a general air of acceptance & forgiveness. A bit more of Hob, at a Renfair of all places.
