Esto se debería comentar como dios manda. Pero no. Porque este tomo me ha dejado tan rota que me he quedado atascada con "puta locura Neil Gaiman maldito chiflado genio maravilloso te como la p" y hasta ahí he llegado.
The Sandman cast takes its final bow with the last book in the series. Several characters going all the way back to book one make small cameos all paying their respects to the Dream Lord himself. Following immediately after the events of the Kindly Ones Dream himself has died, and the Endless gather for the funeral. It's probably the most simplistic of all the books, but it really shows how much Gaiman grew as a writer and how much love he has for this series. Easily one of the most emotional ones and if you ever lost anyone close to you... It really hits home.
Reisens slutt.

Read these books throughout May and June of 2014. The first few in the collection start in a way that is VERY different from the other ones; more similar to a what I would call a classic comic book novel. Serialized, 'epic' battles between rival characters, amongst other things, but it quickly changes into something more. A series of books that is more about the characters and the mythology than action (although there is action indeed). I think it becomes more rounded as it progresses.
There are many characters, and many appear multiple times in the book, and it can be hard to keep track of, and it's probably harder to keep track of when you whip through these books like I do. However, I truly enjoyed the connections and woven relationships between many of the characters.
One final thing, the series quickly becomes something that reminds me of Gaiman's "American Gods." The backdrop/setting is very similar, with even some of the same characters. Something to note.

Loved this volume as much as I loved "The Kindly Ones". This volume is the perfect ending to a good series (even though there is a volume 11 & 12). Every story line began, went somewhere, and had closure. Sometimes I'll read a story and wonder what happened to so and so, but not in this series. At least everyone I cared to know about had closure. I enjoyed the series as a whole. Should I have time to read them all again I would. For now I look forward to reading the other two volumes.
I must preface that the writing below is very much stream of consciousness, and as Post-Completion as could be written. Thus, many of my thoughts have not fully digested. But nonetheless, I will document my initial reaction upon conclusion:
Well. I have completed the #1-#75 (vol 1-10) original run of The Sandman and....it is so incredibly bittersweet. One of the most wondrous bit of fiction I have ever read, and most definitely Gaiman at his finest. I know that it is not entirely the end; I have Endless Nights, Overture, Dream Hunters, and several other spin-offs--what joy! Yet I cannot bring myself to read them at the moment. I think I will sit with this story--this glorious story of stories, for the rest of the day--well, at least for the rest of the afternoon.
I felt such a connection to each and every character, and our guide, Morpheus, most of all. In the final issue, Shakespeare says he is reflected in each of his characters; and I believe in a recent interview for the Netflix adaptation, if I’m not mistaken, Gaiman had similar sentiments about Dream and the rest of his cast of characters. Anyways, I know I am not Writer nor Creator. But even as Reader I feel as if I was Morpheus. I was Hob and Delirium and Lucifer; I was Death and I was Rose. The depth and range of the human experience--soul-- that Gaiman revealed in this lovely feat of creation was astounding to behold. If I were perhaps more crafty--and of Greater Power--maybe I would find a way for every reread to feel like the first time; to relive its profound unfolding and its wistful closure--Oh, how I wish it! But I must persevere. The Tale will live on--in fact, it will bend and twist and change; it will branch off and evolve. But ever the phoenix, it will start anew; for don’t Great Stories always return to their original forms?

Finally done with the series! I enjoyed the ride, even though it took me so long to finish. Excellent series. Can't wait to read the spin offs
“Omnia mutantur, nihil interit.”
“Everything changes but nothing is truly lost.’”
i have finally come to the conclusion of this amazing, masterful storytelling comic saga! big big thanks to my fellow bookworm Leia for lending me her copies, if not for her I would still be walking in the waking world clueless about this masterpiece.
I am soo overwhelmed with everything right now. My favorite part was when Dream and Lyta Hall met again and he marked him and said “Go in peace” Wow, i clapped my hands and was just i. awe.
“Long live the king!”
