I received a copy of this book through Goodreads Giveaways.
In The Hundredth Queen by Emily R. King, Kalinda and orphaned ward to the sisterhood, figures she will never be chosen during the Claiming. Due to regular fevers she doesn't even seem fit to be a servant. But when a benefactor comes everything changes. Not only is she claimed but she is possibly to become the hundredth wife of Rajah. the only way to become his hundredth queen is to battle for it with his other wives and courtesans. This was a fantastic book. Especially for an authors debut. its well written and definitely a page tuner. In fact I had a hard time putting this down. Officially released June 1st, The Hundredth Queen makes a perfect summer read for lovers of fantasy and romance. This is the first book in the trilogy and I am definitely looking forward to the next two. I highly recommend you check this out when it's available.

I enjoyed reading The Hundredth Queen, but there were parts that were lacking. I felt like the characters tended to fall a bit flat. Everything felt a little too black and white for me? Everyone was either a GOOD GUY or a BAD GUY...there were no morally ambiguous characters or gray areas. Also, the insta-love between our main character and her love interest was a little too much to be believable. However, the story kept me interested and moved along at a quick enough pace that I didn't get overly bogged down in the stuff that turned me off.
Hoping the next piece of the story will give me what this one was lacking!

Not bad. Kept me engaged through all but the ending
Amazing worldbuilding and I'm interested to learn more about the magic system.
