I’m so sad because I really enjoyed the first few chapters and the banter between Daisy & Liam was so entertaining but the relationship development was too fast for me (to be fair this is a second chance romance) and the amount of contradictions made me want to pull my hair out (characters say one thing but then do another thing).

Also check TWs - it was supposed to give depth to the characters but it felt very surface level and everyone was wayyy too forgiving to a guy that left with no warning for 10 years.

If I hadn't read Sara Desai's book in the series I would have liked this more. I feel like it hit the same hallmarks as first book a little too often for comfort. Does Daisy have neurodivergent? Could they say it? Felt like she was a walking cliche and that crashed with personality they gave her in first book.

I initially couldn’t finish this book, and put it down halfway through. At that time I stopped due to poor writing and poor editing. The piece that made me put it down was a description of a hockey game with glaring errors and discrepancies.  There was no reason to include such detail, so to include it and get it wrong  is very irksome.
I finished the book a few days later because I needed something to read and it was the only book I had handy. While I still didn’t think it was good, the ending was good for a romantic comedy.

I really enjoyed this second instalment! It was even better than the first. This had lots of tropes used well - tragic backstory, miscommunications, friends to enemies to lovers - plus the awesome ensemble cast of the first book. I liked the love interest in this one a whole lot and also loved the quirkiness of the geeky heroine.

4,75 stars for the fact that we didn’t get to see Liam use his sword (not a euphemism) and I guess because the Sanjay thing wasn’t as interesting as the book was making it out to be. But besides that I loved reading this book, I literally couldn’t put it down, and because it seemed more realistic then other books I’ve read like it. I liked the way Daisy’s family was shown and the way Liam felt accepted by them, also the Brendan and Liam call was one of the more realistic parts of the book to me. This definitely reminded me of Get a Life Chloe Brown but it was made so much better by the fact that they already knew each other and they hadn’t just met willy nilly. I loved reading this book so much that I’m probably going to end up buying it, so I can reread parts of it like I do with act your age Eve Brown and Heartstopper. Thanks to this book I realized my favorite trope in romcom books

2nd time reading: I still love this book and I’m still disappointed that there was no wedding in the book after all the wedding talk
