Note: This is book 2 in Maya Bank’s Pregnancy & Passion series. (The titles were shortened at one point for a print/ebook rerelease). While each book covers the entire arc for a single couple - references to events are made as the series goes on that makes these best listened to in order.

I liked the set up for Ryan & Kelly’s story. Unfortunately, it takes a while to unfold and is bogged down by repetitive dialogue/internal musings. I wish Banks had spent more time redeeming Ryan as the ending was pretty abrupt. It’s an easy listen though.

Narration:
Harry Berkeley does a good job with the narration.

Ryan did something unforgivable to me! I cannot deal with what he did to Kelly. He betrayed her in the worst way a man can betray a woman. And he's excuse for it was he didn't think his brother would ever do something like that. No, thats not an excuse. That's not ok. Kelly deserves a hell of a lot better. And every single one of his friends should get down on their knees and BEG for Kelly's forgiveness!!! They called her awful names and look at her with disgust!!! She did nothing wrong. She BEGGED Ryan to listen to her and believe her. Just ugh no!!!

I was surprised, and in a good way. I knew Ryan was going to get his own story. In the previous book he was looking for his ex fiance who apparently had disappeared. Ryan made assumptions, believed in his brother's lies and humiliated Kelly in the worst possible way. Months later he finally finds her, pregnant and angry. I liked Kelly. HQ writers tend to produce the weakest, most whiny heroines out there and their heroes are such a-holes! Maya Banks decided to add a bit more of realism and gave the main characters a bit more of depth than I expected for such a short story. Kelly stood her ground, refused to settle for crumbs. Good for her! And Ryan, grovelled enough that I ended up liking him. Ryan's brother and mother deserved to be charge for the crime they committed though.

This book jumps right in the story starting with the last couple from first book in series. This book is heart retching. It really upset me in places and made me weepy in others. Loved every word and even tho I would have liked more of a ending it was still an HEA. Brilliant story.

I really didn't care for the Hero even if I knew he was an ass going into it. He had NO doubts!! None!! Ugh!! His grovel wasn't nearly enough. And while she stood up for herself, it wasn't fast enough for me.

Really enjoyed this book. Quick read, only took a few hours, but the amount of emotion packed into those few hours was great. Loved Kelly and her strength and determination. I identified with her pride, fears, and longings. I really wanted to kick Ryan in the balls on a few occasions but he was a totally redeemable character and in the end someone who I believed was worthy of Kelly. Some great sideline characters that I know will make wonderful additions to the series. Emotional read for something smaller than I'm used to with a Maya Banks but worth it.
