My rating is probably very biased, considering the fact that magnus is one of my favorite characters of all time and malec is one of my favorite couples EVER.

AVERAGE RATING: 3.5 stars

I rated each of these sort stories differently for different reasons. After looking up each of the authors for the 11 anthologies, I noticed that the stories written by Jhonson were the ones i rated 1 and 2 stars. Magnus was more juvenile, the stories were BORING, and i didn't understand the point of them.

-What really happened in Peru:
4 stars
I found this story to be very exotic and funny. The small stories in the short story show the different sides of Magnus.

-The runaway queen:
1 stars
My eyes were bleeding all throughout this book. The shallowness of Magnus towards this forgettable side character was unbelievable. I saw no point in this whatsoever...

-Vampires, scones, and Edmund Herondale:
4 stars
What can I say? Herondales are my weakness and seeing this story of how Will's father left the shadow-world to hide his son and daughter, to be with his true love.

-The midnight heir:
5 stars
JAIMEEEEEE is my smol bean and I will protect him with my whole being. FAVORITE Herondale in the history of ever literally. I am so intrigued by this tale and I can't wait to see Grace killed or something lol.

-The rise of the hotel dumort:
1 star
IDEK what happened here. I skimmed through the thing and i still don't know what happened... And i don't care to know.

-Saving Raphael Santiago:
4 stars
I loved this. I absolutely loved this. Raphael is a cunning fox made of fluff and I loved every second of this. I loved seeing why Raphael owed Magnus in COHF.

-The fall of the hotel dumort:
1 star
Again. Zero Fs to give about this damn hotel. I only gave it an extra star for the scene with raphael. I skimmed absent-minded through this whole thing.

-What to buy the shadowhunter who has everything:
5 stars
Malec is my favorite TMI ship and i love them.

-The last stand of the NY institute:
5 stars
the circle as young adults was everything i wished to see tbh. So happy Stephen is dead. Bai boi. I never thought I'd dislike a Herondale. Lucien as a youngster omg so adorable and rusting and innocent.Robert lightwood though... How can one be hated more????

-The course of true love:
5 stars
More malec. In this though, I saw Alec like never before. I saw him in new light and instead of just liking him as Isabelle's older brother or Magnus's partner, I saw him as ALEC, CUTE AND INNOCENT AND CLUMSY.

-The voicemail of magnus bane:
3 stars
This was like the secret scene after the credits with a bunch of deleted scenes. nothing special but it felt like sitting with old friends. THE RAPHAEL VOICEMAIL THOUGH AHAHAHAHA.

These stories are actually so cute and hilarious and now I have a fond attachment to Magnus, resentment towards Shadowhunters and Malec as my otp.
Thank you Cassandra for writing this to fuel my TMI/TID angst.

I struggled to rate this, some stories are a 3 some are a 4 and others probably fall somewhere else on the scale.

I loved getting a glimpse into Magnus’s life, seeing the bonds he forged with Tessa and Will, Raphael and Alec as well as other side characters. It really hammers home how long and rich Magnus’s life has been and how much he went though before he found Alec.

Though it is pretty weird that in these original books Alec is a minor…. Yikes. Thank god the show aged everyone up.

People, stop getting pissed off about Cassandra Clare writing more Shadowhunter books! So what? If she feels like she has more stories to tell and she wants to share them, let her! She created this amazing world, why would she just want to throw it all away? Besides, most of you wouldn't be complaining if J.K Rowling wanted to release three more series in the Wizarding World. No, you'd be jumping up and down and throwing a party, so don't complain about Cassie writing too much if you would be the happiest person alive if your favourite author wrote more books set in the same world/place/time or with the same characters.
