The series has been good up to this point, but I feel like it's really started to pick up now. I love how it started right in the action this time around. I feel like Riordan's characters are so well developed and I love how both the male and female characters in this book felt equally interesting and complex.

I used to not like this one but it's grown on me... I especially like the conversation Percy and Apollo have in the train.

I was honestly a little disappointed by this book. I had loved the previous two, (The Lightning Thief and Sea of Monsters) but unfortunately, this one didn’t hold up as much with me. No offense to the author, but the writing felt lazier, almost rushed. For example,
the prophecy was pretty predictable.
It was obvious that neither
Percy, Thalia, nor Grover were going to die. Percy and Grover are part of the original three, and Thalia was JUST brought back to life.
So, it kinda ruined the tense stakes of the prophecy as you knew
no important characters were to die. And yes, I mean important. Zoe and Bianca were bland characters. You hardly get any time to know either, and Bianca has hardly any speaking lines. I wasn’t really affected by her death as the whole time, she seemed selfish, leaving her brother behind with strangers. It was clear the two were just plot devices so that no main character would have to die. However, on that front, Grover felt pretty useless this book as well. Until the end, he really served no purpose joining in on the quest. He was kind of just.. there. I was also a bit lost with the whole Hunters immortality. They were immortal until they were… killed?? That’s not immortality, then?
The whole story just felt like it was written in one draft in a month with no rewrites. I’m honestly really sad, as I really LOVE the previous books, especially Sea of Monsters, but this one? It could for sure be better. I hope the fourth book improves.
