Simply one of the best stories ever told. This is the second time I’ve read it and it’s even better a second time around. Tolkien is a master and the world he created is one of the best to get lost in

Not sure what can be said that has not been said before. Tolkien's rhythm of prose and immersive detail is amazing. Yes parts went long and the part between the resolution of the ring and the Scouring of the Shire was rather anticlimactic. Scouring of the Shire would have been a great book (with more) on its own.
