Stopped reading less than 10% in. The mmc was a real jerk and not in a way that I could see it being redeemed. I think the author was leaning on a life altering injury to likely justify his outbursts at his brothers but it was hard to real and actually feel sorry for him. Also, he was more concerned with being about to have sx rather than if he’d never walk again.

In Preservation is Callum’s story. Callum’s was fun loving twin until Russian tried to take his life. But as he fights to get his life back, he needs help. That help will be Finley who is a live in nurse. Due to them live in close proximity they fall in love through humor and drama. While trying to figure who is now after Callum while he still recovering. Their story is filled with drama, love, and humor. Another great book to this series.

In Preservation follows Callum's story, after he realizes his new reality. The narmally fun loving and jokester of the four O'Callaghan brothers is put to the test when he finds out he has suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury and will have to go through extensive physical therapy to regain mobility again. Struggling to accept his new reality, Cal will have to figure out who is behind the threatening messages, the FBI information dump, relearn a new type of intimacy with Finny, his physical therapist who has fought to be an independent and strong woman her entire life.

Courtney W. Dixon did an amazing job showing her readers that even the happiest of characters can have their own mental and internal struggles. Especially when Cal couldn't control his own anger and self-blame toward Cian. Or that even the smallest of steps can lead to the biggest of victories if you put your mind to it. I especially loved the health sibling relationship between Fin and her brother, Ferguson, and how well he got along with Cal. This book was refreshing compared to the other books in this series, ala in all it was a great read.

This is the first book I've read from this author and in this series. I really loved this book! There were just a few instances of writing that made me pause and go ?? wait can you say that ?? is that problematic ?? I guess not ??
But Callum and Finn were super cute together, and I look forward to reading other books from this series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you Book Sirens!

Its been a while since I’ve felt so connected to a book!! I love dark romance but light and happy is much more my style. This was so different from the others in this series and I loved it. It was quirky and had some amazing one liners. The suspense was fantastic and leaves you hanging until the very end!! The bedroom scenes between these two were perfection and spicier than any of the prior books.

Oh my!! Callum is the perfect guy ❤️ unlike his twin he's everyone's bright, funny likeable person until his accident... Funny is just like him. Match made in heaven. SO HAPPY that Cal got his light back with his gorgeous shark fin. 5 out of 5. This story was amazing!

If you have read any of the other books in The Kings of Boston series you already know Callum is nothing like his other brothers. Especially his twin Cian.

Callum is easy going and funny. He works behind the scenes as a computer hacker.
When he is shot and partially paralyzed he became angry and resentful. Especially toward Cian who he blames. Cain has always protected Callum, especially from their cruel father. He believes that if Cian had been more focused on his job, then the shooting would have never happened.

Finley is hired to be Callum's nurse and physiotherapist. She pushes him to not give up on his rehabilitation. She can match him word for word in sarcasm, whit and humour. They are very sweet together.

I love that books in this series have parallel timelines so we have different perspectives from different characters. I enjoy the side characters as much as the main.

I'm looking forward to book six.

Callum O’Callaghan has been shot four times by a man who’s supposed to be dead. The reason the shooter isn’t dead is because Callum’s twin brother Cian didn’t take the shot. Now Callum has to suffer as he sits in a wheelchair and is tortured through physical therapy. He’s also angry and blames Cian for the situation. Finley Mulligan is just out of a bad relationship, and he boyfriend is not getting the message. She’s safe, though, now that she’s living at Callum’s house and working as his physical therapist. Callum and Finley suit each other perfectly, and sparks fly. But there are problems. For one, Callum is afraid he’s not a man who can satisfy Finley while he’s still experiencing the effects of his spinal cord injury. For another, someone is out to destroy the O’Callaghan family, and they’re going through Callum to do it. Both Callum and Finley’s lives are in danger.

This is the fifth book in Courtney Dixon’s Kings of Boston series, and it focuses on hacker/tech wizard Callum. Dixon has given Callum a terrific story, and it’s amazing to read as he goes from being depressed about his situation to struggling to gain back his independence all the way to the fierce person he wants to be! I love Callum and Finley. They are two great, well-written characters whose funny, snarky personalities suit one another perfectly. The mystery kept me guessing until the last minute. It’s also wonderful to get to see all the other characters as they go through the ups and downs of life in their family and in The Family.

In Preservation can be read as a standalone, but you’ll enjoy it even more if you read the series from book one In Silence. Check out In Preservation and let me know what you think! I’d love to discuss!
