Devastated she’s now staying with her sister and her wife in their extra bedroom. Once a successful blogger she can no longer write to her followers and she’s broke. She makes a little cash dressing up for children’s birthday parties. One day while sitting at a coffee shop a woman sits down named Maisie, Maisie begs Willa to pretend to be her friend, she doesn’t want her fiancée to know she doesn’t have any real friends, Maisie then offers Willa money to be her bridesmaid. Needing the money Willa agrees, and as her bridesmaid duties go on,she starts to care and form an actual friendship with Maisie, and a potential romance with the best man Liam and his gorgeous smile. But when a secret from Maisie past threatens could threaten the wedding Willa is soon facing her own past and looking at what true love and friendship mean. Five stars. This book was the perfect romance and friendship. I loved all the characters and Willa and LiaM were amazing five stars!!
What a delightful rom com! It was more than just your typical boy meets girl and they fall in love. I really enjoyed Willa’s growth in the story and her budding friendship with Maisie. Definitely worth the read!
4.5 ⭐️ Wow, this book really took me by surprise. I wasn’t really sure how I’d feel at the beginning of it, but this book definitely exceeded my expectations. Yes, there is romance in it, but I think it is wrong to label this one as being under the romance genre. At its core, this is a story of the power of friendship, and it was very cute and heartwarming.
This was an okay read for me. Some funny/ cute moments in this novel for sure, but overall some parts became a little repetitive and irrelevant. My favorite characters were the ones who were not even the main ones (I really liked Rose and Lorene). Wish there was more insight into why Max and Sarah had an affair instead of Sarah just crying and telling Willa how sorry she was every time she saw her.
Hope it’s not mean to say the cover of this novel is better than the actual story.

3.5
This was really cute.
The first half was kinda boring and slow, honestly, but the 2nd half definitely pulled me through.
I would say the romance is secondary to the friendships in this book. And I really enjoyed that this book took the needed time to center on Willa’s healing as she slowly became friends with Maisie. My heart is so happy that Willa & Maisie found each other when they did and trusted each other to care for one another. It’s the sweetest thing ever.
Liam & Willa’s romance was also cute. I appreciated that nothing dramatic happened in the final act. It’s always nice to read a romance where adults act like adults

This was so cute and the writing was so good that I just inhaled the novel right away and couldn't stop reading it. I loved Maisie and Willa and the healing friendship they had for one another. Their friendship reminded me of my friendships with my closest friends, and it was just very wholesome? We didn't even need the romance for Willa, just the friendship between Maisie and Willa. This was a solid debut, and I will probably read more of Kerry's books in the future!
Whew! Now wasn’t that a long summary/blurb. But honestly it was a cute read with a fast-paced romance and a touch of mystery.
Betrayals are often hard to overcome especially from those very near and dear to us and this story has captured it almost perfectly. It’s hard to want to come out and socialize from an enclosed safe place because we often don’t want to get hurt again. It easier to run away than face things head on and trust me when I say, I know this very well.
I liked the characters in this story, because they were all good hearted individuals. Majority of the characters had a kind personality and you could tell there would be no villain or antagonist in this story early on. The characters were each unique and I enjoyed how they accepted each other for who they were without any judgements. That said though, I felt that these “too good” characters made the story lack a realistic feel as finding so many nice individuals at once it quite hard to come by.
The romance in this book is not the primary focus and although I did prefer that so we could enjoy the friendship theme, I wanted to see more of Liam. Liam is honestly a too good secondary character and his story was just yelling to be heard. We did get a brief retelling of his past but that’s about it and it felt unfinished. Maisie was another character and an important one really, who also doesn’t get a great expansion of her past although it’s warranted. I think reading about Maisie’s past would’ve put into perspective her current personality more clearly because at the end it felt more like she changed to satisfy her parents or out of guilt.
The ending felt a bit rushed for me. Everything basically just came crashing down with reveals and happy endings. I couldn’t really place this book into romance, friendship or family completely. The book is just about an individual trying to regain their social life and making friends along the way while finding what’s important to them. I suggest picking this book up if you’re in for a cute read with little plot.

One of my favorite parts of good romance novels is the female friendships. I love seeing women support each other and build each other up. In many ways, this story is one of friendship as much as it is of romance.
This book starts with a broken heroine. Willa found her best friend sleeping with her fiance and lost them both. So when Maisie storms into her life, Willa is not at all open to new romance or friends. But Maisie is willing to pay her to be a bridesmaid, and Willa needs money.
As much as friendship is a major theme, so is loneliness. I think that's especially relatable as so many of us have limited our social interactions during the pandemic. There's also interesting conversation about whether social media is a real form of connection. And there's discussion of mental health and the stigma about seeking help. This book touched my heart.
I realize I have gotten this far without even mentioning the male protagonist. He exists, and he is awesome. The book is more focused on Willa and her growth as necessary for a romance to occur. The book has amazing comedic aspects and could probably be classified as a mix of women's fiction and rom-com.
Thank you to Berkley and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.
