These novels are so sweet, if predictable, and always make me tear up. They should be movies on the Hallmark Channel.

I like Trigiani, though I feel she is very plot driven instead of character focused. The middle of the book lacked meat and development of character relationships. Trigiani should have focused less on Nella's relationship with Renato and more on Nella's relationship with Franco and her daughter Celeste. I thought she raced through section 2 of the book just to get to the end. But, overall I enjoyed the story and the epiphanies that Nella realizes at the end.

I turned to Trigiani for a light happy read. It is what it is, this type of book does not work it's way into my soul, but sometimes the soul needs to coast. now I am bored and will return to the complex.

This story was mildly engaging. It was a good summer read, light and airy. There is a lot of tragedy in the protagonist's life, but there are also lots of new births and happy moments.

Nice, easy read but very predictable.

Kind of depressing. Plus I think that Renato is overrated and it was frustrating that she never fully appreciates Franco. But it's a fairly realistic portrayal of how the drudgery of a mundane job can suck the joy out of life. And definitely a reminder not to take anything for granted - success, prosperity, time, relationships - especially relationships. The Big Stone Gap trilogy (actually I just realized that there are 4 books - what is that called?? A series?) is still my favorite from Adriana Trigiani.

Easy to read book telling the life of Nella, who had to give up her plans of going to college after her father’s accident. The story tells the life of the Italian community living in America.

Maybe my favorite Trigiani book. It spreads over the main characters whole life so there are many years that are just skipped. I wouldn't have minded here doing a 3 or 4 book series instead like she did with Big Stone Gap.
