McCarthy straight up does not know how to write a bad book. What I enjoyed most about this one was the disconnect between what it's marketed as and what it is. The turn about a quarter way in shocked me and from then on I was sold. I don't know which I prefer between this and All the Pretty Horses, but I did find this to have slightly more under the hood than its predecessor. All in all an enjoyable read.
