I love Saff and Maddie with all my heart. Maddie’s pov was especially interesting to read because she’s blind, yet her chapters never felt lacking in any way. I very much enjoyed the post apocalyptic setting and the more tense, zombie action sequences. I will say that I missed a more clear explanation for how the apocalypse began and just more exposition. I also wish there was perhaps a larger goal besides ‘find safe-house, kiss girl’, but that might just be because I’m used to characters finding a cure or overthrowing the government in a post apocalyptic setting. Despite that, reading this book is what I looked forward to every night and it was great overall. The writing flowed and the relationship was one worth rooting for. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go make some popcorn.

I’m so glad Maser is working to replace the AI cover because I loved this book so much. The writing was so smooth and easy for me to read. I read it so much faster than I usually read books.

I love love loved the MCs and their grumpy/sunshine dynamic. And I’d die for Maddie, hundo p. I absolutely ATE up the bit where Maddie was jealous, nomnomnom, she was so cute.

Overall this was a good read, I enjoyed it and was interested in the story, I feel as though I have more questions now than prior to reading… which is unfortunate, I really wanted more of an explanation as to why this turned into a zombie apocalypse. I also didn’t fear for the characters, because I knew the solution would be on the next page. It felt as if nothing really big happened; nothing of impact, not much action/ combat and a bit of repetitive scenarios. I couldn’t feel very connected to the characters as there wasn’t really too much to go off of, I felt like I only got snip bits of personalities, or only one main characteristic to label them. Once I started I didn’t stop reading which is a good thing, it held my attention which is so good coming out of a reading slump. This was my first introduction into zombie apocalypse books, so I’m very excited to find more! I love apocalyptic games, movies, and TV shows. I just don’t feel as if I could really rant and rave/ go out of my way to recommend this to anyone. And this was a very anticipated read of mine. it just felt a bit underwhelming. I will say the pacing was good, nothing was rushed but at times felt very slow, but maybe that’s more so due to it being day by day, with no big time jumps.

Gosh this was- I’ve really been enjoying post-apocalyptic settings lately, and while the way it started off wasn’t quite catching me, all the yearning and the fighting and the love… They were perfect for each other. ❤️

Felt low-stakes at the end. Saff should have helped the community she left.
