I feel like the story had very high potential, but not all of it went well, not to mention that the story should've been shorter - 600 pages made it stretch for too long and I do appreciate that the author tried to really get into the inner thoughts of her characters, but in some passages she was simply repeating herself. That is to say, some bits were very good - I loved the fragment about the pregnancy, Saff being a doctor and the whole idea of Saff struggling with asthma, while Maddie was trying to survive the zombie apocalypse as a visually impaired person. It's a great concept, but just not fulfilled to its potential - at least in my opinion.
I wish there was more zombies, more focus on character development and more about the people trying to form safe communes in the chaotic world without many amenities that we have today.

I had to read this sapphic zombie survival romance book in 10% increments because this was a book club pick and I am Terrified of zombies!! Thankfully, this was quite manageable and I'd say for about at least 40-50% of the book there were no zombies in sight! I also really loved the romance in this book, which made it absolutely fly by despite the 500+ pages - something about it read exactly like my perfect kind of fanfiction and I loved it. I'm not gonna lie, the cover put me off at the beginning, but if that is also the case for you, please ignore it because this was such a good book!!

Story was predictable. The ending was very touching, however, and the emotional growth of the main character was moving.
Wowowowow this was a ride from start to finish. Again, went out of my comfort zone because I believe the whole zombie/post-apocalyptic world is overdone, but THIS. Phew…. So good.
