okay Grady Hendrix, idk why it took me so long to pick up one of your books, but I see you now. that was a wild ride! I feel it read more like a psychological thriller for most of the story rather than horror, but it was entertaining nonetheless. loved the nostalgic vibes and the message of friendship (as cheesy as that sounds). adding more of this author to my collection as well

A book about friendship and not enough exorcism
I must admit I bought this book because of the retro VHS cover and the story sounded hilarious. I didn't expect the story to be so serious and literal as the blurb and fun cover suggested a comedic dark humour dig at Exorcism films, I was sadly proven wrong. The story is 100% just about friendship and the exorcism was actually the most boring part for me, I still can't understand why their parents are so weird and react so strange to them either, that's the only part I found weird, how strange and unaware their parents were. I would of rated this book much lower if it were t for the last couple of pages which almost made me weep at their friendship lasting so long. It was a heart warming book about friendship but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone personally.
