A must-read for dinosaur fans of all ages! As much about scientific discovery and its progression over time as it is about dinosaurs, Reed and Flood fuse science and history with humor and awe. The transitions are seamless and the details fascinating. This book will no doubt thrive in and out of classrooms.

Science Comics: Dinosaurs is a wonderful book – one I would have adored as a child. The book presents lots of modern facts and research, but it also covers the history of paleontology – including many of the huge dinosaur mistakes and misconceptions we’ve made in the past. It may be marketed to middle grade, but it is dense and contains a ton of great information.

The illustrations are the perfect blend of friendly and realistic – they’re cartoony enough to be easy to digest, but realistic enough to fit well with the scientific and historical text.

Because the book moves through history, it has a natural flow – even a narrative – that makes it easy to read despite the amount of information.

Another hit from First Second!

Ok, so I picked this up at the library after seeing Jurassic World (and I just finished The Lost World by Michael Crichton) for my kids to read, riding a dino vibe. When I got home I cracked it open just to see what was in it. I WAS HOOKED. This was full of easy to read facts about the history of fossils and facts about dinosaurs and periods where the earth and its inhabitants underwent drastic changes. I managed to add a few books to my list about the insanely awesome early pioneers in the paleontology field. We owe so much to their findings. There is so much adventure to the discovery stories that I have to know more. I also looked to see what other science comics there are from this line and I plan to read them all. I recommend this to 4-5th graders, but honestly I would recommend to anyone who loves science and dinosaurs!

Coming off of reading [b:My Beloved Brontosaurus: On the Road with Old Bones, New Science, and Our Favorite Dinosaurs|15793550|My Beloved Brontosaurus On the Road with Old Bones, New Science, and Our Favorite Dinosaurs|Brian Switek|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1348512496s/15793550.jpg|21515524] last month, I discovered how much of a joy it is to learn about dinosaurs. It was only natural I turned to this, and I found it satisfying in nearly every way. I loved the visual aspect of the graphic format, the framing of what we believed of dinosaurs throughout eras of discover, and the humor was just the best. Definitely can't wait to really push this on library patrons, young and old.
