Good characters, iffy plot. The plot gets better as the story escalates, but the climax was not great. This was a near miss but still a good read.

The worst thing about finishing this book is going to be finding something that can top it. Some reviews have described the storylines as confusing or scattered, but I wholeheartedly disagree. Everything about this novel, its narrators, and references to other adventure stories is impeccably thought out and woven together. A dream of a novel.

Loved it until the last 50 pages!
It also drove me crazy that the author didn't use quotation marks.

I couldn't wait to finish this book as it had everything, characters I didn't care about; an extremely annoying structure, naming each chapter after one of the characters so when it did get vaguely interesting you had 3 or 4 chapters about another character; pages of irrelevant waffle filler; sections of writing so infantile I thought I was reading a children's book; no action actually taking place on the Lincoln Highway; oh and an unsatisfactory ending with lots of loose ends.
This one goes straight to the charity shop.

This book was so well written and the characters were incredible but alas, I am only giving it one star because I felt like I was reading rambles for 600 pages. There was no climax building or overall intrigue to me, the plot overall felt very limp and half hearted. I think a lot of people will really enjoy this novel but I am just not one of them.

I must be the oddball out on this one. I was generous to give this 2 stars. The story just seemed to go nowhere for a very very long time. If you like slow moving, dry stories....read this. If not, stay clear!

A really enjoyable read that flies by despite being nearly 600 pages. Main issue: I never could make sense of why some POVs were in the first person while most were not, or why some minor characters got their own POV chapters.
