loved the world building, characters, plot, and general themes. i get that El was supposed to be intense but sometimes it made it a bit frustrating to read.

I'll definitely finish this series, but the characters felt flat to me. I don't feel like I really know anyone, and I certainly don't understand the world building. I'm also not a fan of danger for danger's sake. Much like I found Dauntless jumping off buildings and moving trains in Divergent or the parapet in Fourth Wing completely idiotic, this homicidal school was too over the top. Still, Aadhya was a breath of fresh air, being the only reasonable person in a sea of nonsense, and it's really for her I'll keep reading.
