Hear me out, it’s an incredible concept and an amazing story. The writing was good, the world building and history was very interesting but this took me 3 years to read. Part of it was because I had originally got it from the library and couldn’t finish it before I had to return it. I don’t know why it was such a struggle to get through because once I did I was upset I hadn’t done so earlier. I wouldn’t recommend this book just because I didn’t connect to it for whatever reason but it may be a reread in the future if I can properly get through it because I ended up listening to it as an audiobook and continued to get lost. Overall, great idea and I usually would have loved it but this just didn’t do it for me

I liked this book way more than I thought I would. The audiobook narrator's voice was delightful.

Finally, a Book that Didn't Disappoint Me!

I am so pleasantly surprised with how much I loved this?! It flowed so well and felt like a perfect breezy book that never got boring and always was surprising me! AGH really that was so good and had me feeling a lot of emotions but as Initial Thoughts after finishing, easily one of the most unique books I've ever read.

I need the sequel so bad, please give me the sequel.

Both of our latest reads were trash and hopefully this isn’t 🤞🏽

Ok, soooo...

I didn’t hate this book, nor did I love it. I just didn’t care for it. I don’t care about any of the characters, I don’t care about any of their struggles, I just didn’t care about anything. Considering the story, I should have felt some kind of sympathy. Unfortunately, I just didn’t give a hoot. I did enjoy the premise of the story, which is why I gave it 2 stars but I suppose it’s more like 2 1/2.

There were a couple of lines that resonated with me but other than that I was really just bored with this book. I don’t know, just not my taste.

Oh! And the damn names! People names, tribal names, city names, so damn hard to pronounce. Gah!

So this is probably on me - but not gonna lie, I was not expecting this to be scifi. I'm not sure anything was really gained story wise by it being scifi either. Well besides the advanced medical technology allowing for body double. I really enjoyed the cultural rep, and I think it would have shone out more if the scifi elements weren't stepping on its toes. I still enjoyed the book, but it seemed overly complicated in a way it really didn't need to be.
