I wish I'd read this one in paper, as I have the idea that the illustrations would have been even more charming in color (my Kindle is old and doesn't do color). The non-illustration content seemed not as helpful as I'd hoped … maybe because I'm already pretty good at doing nothing. There were a couple of nuggets but overall I was left unsatisfied.

Solid short read, can be repetitive but would be great as a book for your coffee table. Love the concept and would really helpful for someone a lot more productive then I am. :)

Cat on the cover looks my cat which is awesome.

Have a great day!

Review previously placed on my blog:

I'm currently reading Niksen: The Dutch art of doing nothing by Annette Lavrijsen. I got a Dutch copy from the library. This is a self help nonfiction book.

Randomnly picked this up from the library, because the topic intrigued me. I found out that this was originally written in English, which makes me even more curious. Not far into it, so nothing really to say about it.

I read about half way through this book and stopped reading. It gave me what I wanted. I just wanted to see what this author thought was the Dutch way of doing nothing. The things she talked about, I don't feel myself are very Dutch, more just general. A very unoriginal self help book that didn't add anything new. Therefore I stopped reading and have not rated it.

Don’t be fooled by the cover. This book is nowhere as engaging or unique or useful as I thought it would be.

my boyfriend bought me this book last week because, he knows I spend my time overthinking and overbooking myself for too many things which results in my stressing out. I use my free time to deep clean and keep myself busy from thinking about how stressed I am sometimes. I read this whole book in a day and it was delightful. The art was very aesthetically pleasing. I even grabbed my highlighters to mark the passages that stood out to me. I feel refreshed and it was a perfect book to start my 2022 with, as I believe I will start adding moments of niksen to my daily schedule to let myself breathe and do nothing and be okay with doing nothing. We need these moments of nothingness
