3.5 stars. I think this is a great read for reluctant older middle grade readers, though it is too scary/graphic for younger readers. Give to older fans of Snickett looking for more mystery and child trauma.

This was a quick little read for me but I enjoyed it. The story is clearly meant for a younger audience given how cut and dry the plot ended up being, but I had a good time overall.
