Good book. I don't think there is a series here, but I hope there'll be another one. It was left open so it could happen. Good plot and great ending!

One of Sandford's early books, with different characters any of the other series' he writes. A senator is killed and the political ramifications are complicated. So are the circumstances surrounding the killing. Jake, a history professor and political troubleshooter for the President's chief of staff, is asked to unsnarl it all. Political infighting, romance, and more violence ensue.

Jake Winter, Washington "researcher". Problem solver, investigator. Good story, pages keep turning easily. Typical John Sandford and if you're a fan like me, you'll like this.

Ah... older political thriller books are cute when the plot involves people actually getting in trouble for illegal activities and general chicanery. As we all know, that stuff is now perfectly fine.

Spoiler Not sure how I feel about the gay mafia angle... on one hand, cool, on the other, kinda sick of gay people always being portrayed as deceptive and conniving.

Kind of political, kinda boring, not boring enough to not read, but boring enough to probably not read any more books by this author.

Took a while to get into it as there were alot of characters. But once I did, it was a good book which I enjoyed.

i like Sandfords writing a lot, and this was very readable, but it also felt a bit like a rejected Lucas Davenport novel.3.5 stars rounded up cos i feel like it.
