This is a hard book to rate - at 448 pages, it could've easily been shortened by at least a hundred pages. But what makes this book different from other true crime books - is that it discovers the science behind the forensic investigations.

The best part of the book was the one focusing on what NecroSearch is and what they've accomplished without profiting off of it - just to help out and bring closure to the family and friends of the victims. This book is explaining the geophysiscs aswell as the botany, anthropology and everything else their brilliant minds and expertise concludes with pure teamwork!

The rest of the book examines (waaay too detailed) some of the cases they've helped to crack (and not crack), and a lot of names to remember. It's quite a mess and not even written in a chronological order.

But I'll give it a high rating just for the first part about the science behind it all that was so well written and easy to understand to us lay-people!

This was an incredible book!! Got the name of it from the host of a true crime podcast I love, and this turned out to be an amazing read. The forensic science was fascinating, the accounts of the crimes and investigations were thorough and engrossing, and I am low-key obsessed with the narrator. Obviously this book had depressing moments but overall I really enjoyed it and I learned a bit about forensics too.

A really interesting look at some of the top scientists and how they began to delve into the world of crime solving, helping the police and the FBI.

Many people, at least people that I know, have either heard about the pig farm, the body farm or both. These are places where scientists can study the decomposition of corpses (I know, ewww) and learn timelines for different scenarios which can aid them in solving when and how a body wound up in a certain spot. The most important application for this is solving murders that have long gone cold.

This is a book about these people, how they got started and some of the important crimes that they worked on. At times, it can get a little dry, but if you keep reading, it will pull you back in again.

Finally finished it! This book gives an insight on the history of forensic science - to learn how people developed this & built on what already existed. The cases that are included show the development of Necrosearch & how they brought in people with skills not traditionally associated with finding bodies, like geologists, photographers, & archaeologists. I liked that with each case, they went through what happened, what the police did to exhaust every channel of investigation, & how Necrosearch helped the investigation. I also liked, as this is a revised edition, that there were updates on each case covered.

I love true crime and this game such an interesting overview of true minds that solve these true crimes. They did a great job of taking about the science without using overwhelming vocabulary.
