The quirky premise never feels forced—instead, it offers meaningful insights wrapped in an engaging, character-driven story.
I absolutely adored this book and can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series!

This is a very lighthearted book basically making fun of male athletes who definitely make a lot of money and have never had to really think about what it means to be a husband or a father, and they basically have to form a club and read romance books to figure it out. It’s just as cheesy as you would think and there is smut but it’s very limited. It’s definitely perfect for a quick easy read that you don’t have to think too hard about.

The premise of this story is so unique—I really enjoyed the twist on book club and the part Gavin’s friends played in this romance. The dialogue was very funny and realistic (I found myself laughing out loud during several scenes), I was definitely rooting for Thea and Gavin the whole time, and the twins were so cute! While I did feel like the excerpts from the Regency novel sometimes slowed down the pacing a little, it was integrated into the main story very well. My only gripe with this book was the (overused?) trope surrounding Thea’s relationship with her parents—that they’re the reason she couldn’t love, etc. While it did add a necessary complexity to her character and explained her actions, that aspect of the story didn’t seem to bring anything really new to the table like the book club concept did. Other than that, though, this was an enjoyable read.

Very funny and very entertaining. The idea of a group of athletes (baseball) that get together and read regency romance books in an effort to improve their marriages and their love lives is refreshing and … enjoyable. And I loved all the creative curse words that Gavin came up with, as well as the imaginative names that Gavin gave the lord in the book he was reading - Lord Happy Tongue or Lord Sex Machine.

This was cute but I really did not like Liv, and I feel like some discussions of masculinity and feminism were really heavy handed. But I liked the happy ending!
