solid installment in the series, solid character development and dynamics.....the first half was a bit slower but once the character development started to kick in it started hitting so hard

I liked this one! It still suffers from that MG over-explaining, but it was pretty interesting and action-packed. It also had a better ending.

Oh. My. Gosh. BEST ONE YET!!! There's not much to say about this series without giving away too much but holy crapanoli this one was seriously the best one so far! And yet, like Harry Potter, I feel like these are getting better and better with each book. Very clever and very thought provoking. All I can think is where have I been after all these years when these books were coming out? Seriously? These are so good! And the ending to this was the best cliffhanger/ending yet to lead up to the next book before the finale.

As mentioned in my review of the previous volume, many of the books so far have been slowly building to something. This volume took off the training wheels. No more slow build this time.

Featuring Trey as the point-of-view character for the first time in one of the strongest volumes so far, Trey experiences harrowing character growth and culminates at the end with his friends finally ready to take big steps out of the shadows. Can't wait to get my hands on the next book!

Intense

Couldn’t put it down

A decent entry in the Shadow Children Sequence.

I really enjoyed Trey's transformation from cowardly child to courageous rebel, but some of the elements of this story were a little too contrived for me. Boy was Mark lucky that Nedley happened to be the guard he ran into.

At first I hated the internal dialogue of Trey, the protagonist of this volume. The more the more the book went on the more I enjoyed.
