The world leaders being mad the greencloaks kind of makes no sense to the point that it feels like they're just dragging the story out. They were controlled with a parasite, they didn't do it for fun. First of all, they also saved the world from the Wyrm. Secondly, they were the ones that got the parasite the most because they were actually in the fight. Of course no one who was hiding out got it, there weren't there to get it.

I love the verbage he uses. Pg. 91, "Rumfass hoofed over to him." Adorable.

I'm so happy Worthy got his redemption arc finished, but what he did with it doesn't seem right. They have to collect all the gifts so he traps himself with one of them? Yeah they got out, but he could have just told that plan to Rollan to use the other gift and they'd have all of them. Seems like a nonsense way to just move the plot forward.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. The development was great, the journey was great, the villians were villan-y. I loved it for all the same reasons I loved the other one he wrote.

J’ai bien aimé, mais j’ai l’impression de retrouver le rythme de la série originale que je trouvais un peu lent.

Wildcat's Claw picks up where book #5 left off with the main characters plus Anka and Worthy evading capture from the Oathbound. Now that the group holds the Heart of the Land, Worthy thinks he may have a lead on the next treasure: the Wildcat's Claw. Unfortunately, the group will have to travel to Conor's birthplace, Trunswick to get more information. With Oathbound crawling the countryside and a population out for vengeance against the Greencloaks this journey is fraught with danger. Our six heroes must make it to the Wildcat's Claw before they are captured and executed.

Wildcat's Claw is a return to everything I enjoy about the Spirit Animals series. Though I was sort of nonplussed about the addition of "political intrigue" into the canon of the series, Varian Johnson does it well. I'm glad the author returned for another book. There's a great understanding of the characters, though I would have loved to see more of Rollan's brand of humor. As always, I'm not looking for much depth in these stories, but I'm happy that all the characters featured in these books have growing backstories and motivations. Plus, we aren't overloaded with characters like we were in book #4.

This was an enjoying read. 4/5 stars.

This was an okay addition to the series, and the writing was fine, but I feel the story has gone on too long.

I left like this book's pace was faster than the others. They find the Wildcat's Claw pretty fast, and all the battles they have are even faster. It did not have any breathing room between one scene to the next. But I did like this one better than that last one.
