A Legacy of... Unanswered Questions, Recycled Drama, and Fitz's Never-Ending Tantrums
Alright, Legacy — where do l even start? I had high hopes, I really did. I wanted to be blown away by epic plot twists, secrets unraveling, and characters growing into their own. Instead, I got... well, 700+ pages of deja vu.
Let’s break it down:
1: The Never-Ending Loop: Shannon Messenger, my girl, I love you, but Legacy felt like a remix of the same old storylines. Kidnappings? Check. Secrets? Check. Everyone lying to Sophie? Triple check. I swear I’ve read half of these plot points in the last five books! Can we maybe move on from the same problems, pretty please?
2: The Black Swan—what do they even do anymore? They’re supposed to be this secret society guiding Sophie, but honestly, they feel more like the worst group project team ever. They have no real plan, they give her zero actual answers, and half the time it feels like they’re just as lost as she is. If they have a master plan, I’m starting to think they lost the map.
3: Fitz. Oh, Fitz - Can someone please get Fitz a journal and some therapy? Because, wow, he was on another level in this book. The pouting, the passive-aggressiveness, the constant mood swings—he’s like an emotional hurricane with no off switch. Honestly, I had to skim his scenes to preserve my sanity.
4: Plot on a Treadmill – This book is long. And I mean looooong. But for all those pages, how much actually happens? So many scenes felt like filler, like the story was dragging its feet just to stretch things out. I kept waiting for something to break—some epic twist, some real resolution—but it just...never came. We’re left with more questions than we started with, again.
5:Oralie as Sophie’s Mom: Yawn – So, the big reveal? Yeah, that’s what we were waiting for? It was like opening a mystery box and finding...a plain pair of socks. Not only did I see it coming, but it also lacked any real emotional punch. There was no “Whoa!” moment—just a “Yep, that tracks.” Honestly, the whole parent mystery feels more like a drawn-out soap opera than a real mystery at this point
6: Lady Gisella, the Plot Device:
all that buildup, all that mystery, and then...nothing. She fizzled out so fast I thought I missed something. Her villain arc had so much potential, but in the end, she felt like a cardboard cutout of a bad guy.
But hey, it wasn’t all bad I guess:
The Sophie and Keefe moments? Chef’s kiss. They’re the only thing keeping me emotionally invested at this point. The tension, the banter, the stolen glances—it’s the good stuff.
And Team Valiant? Loved their dynamic at least in the first half. It’s refreshing to see Sophie with a group of friends who don’t constantly treat her like a fragile glass sculpture. More of this, please!
In conclusion: Legacy had moments, but for the most part, it felt like running in place with a bunch of characters who just refuse to communicate. I’ll keep reading because I’m in too deep, but I’m begging Shannon—let’s actually answer some questions next time, okay?
P.s. If I hear the word legacy one more time...well, let’s just say I’ll be channeling my inner Ro.
