Karşılıksız aşk... Zaman veya yer fark etmiyor. Hepimiz eninde sonunda deneyimliyoruz. Kaç yaşında olduğumuz da pek fark etmiyor. Sanırım bu bir yazılı kural olmalı, her insan mutlaka bir gün karşılıksız aşkı tadacaktır diye. Şayet Werther'in acısının en büyük sebebi de bu karşılıksız aşk. (Dolayısıyla Werther, empati kurması ve anlaması - benim açımdan- kolay bir karakter oldu.)

Spoiler vermeyeceğim ancak okudukça sayfaları çevirmesi güç bir hale geliyor kitap. Özellikle artık son yirmi sayfa boyunca sürekli ara verdim, kalktım gezdim, dayanamadım. Bunaldım bayağı. Eğer okumayı düşünüyorsanız bunalmaya hazır olmanız gerekiyor. Kitap bittiğinde de içinizdeki sıkıntı dinmeyecek muhtemelen. Üzücüydü, ne diyebilirim ki... (Ve tabii obsesiflik düzeyinde korkutucu olduğunu es geçmeyelim.)

Not my usual read, but decided to try it still. Glad I did that.
Beautiful writing, and it gets progressively damaging emotionally.

Fragments of wisdom amid what is essentially an overextended thought experiment on the part of the author. Does not put me off reading Faust, as I think the style present in this work would lend itself better to theatre. Presents an archaic, limited conception of love, but there is a sense of internal sincerity which is admirable.

Eines der schönsten Bücher, das ich je gelesen hab. Goethes Beherrschung der deutschen Sprache ist hervorragend und reizend. Ich würde eine Lunge geben, um halb so gut schreiben zu können.

3 stars for The Sorrows of Young Werther.

I found it a bit difficult to relate to Werther because it felt that he was just in his own head too much. The story took a sympathetic turn for me after his move to Weimar where he is rejected by the hoity-toitys. He just couldn’t catch a break.

This was a story of unrequited love, but also of general social rejection which Werther found can be extremely draining emotionally and psychologically.

Extremely touching and surprising relatable. Although the twists and turns of some characters were predictable it is fun to imagine all sorts of outcomes in conjunction to the story. 

I really liked this love triangle, surprising me!
